Drag Me to Hell, Land of the Lost, and The Proposal out today!

Two good ones and one bad…You Pick!

The Proposal: When high-powered book editor Margaret faces deportation to her native Canada, the quick-thinking exec declares that she’s actually engaged to her unsuspecting put-upon assistant Andrew, who she’s tormented for years. He agrees to participate in the charade, but with a few conditions of his own. The unlikely couple heads to Alaska to meet his quirky family and the always-in-control city girl finds herself in one comedic fish-out-of-water situation after another. With an impromptu wedding in the works and an immigration official on their tails, Margaret and Andrew reluctantly vow to stick to the plan despite the precarious consequences.

Land of the Lost: Space-time vortexes suck. Has been scientist Dr. Rick Marshall, is sucked into one and spat back through time. Way back. Now, Marshall has no weapons, few skills and questionable smarts to survive in an alternate universe full of marauding dinosaurs and fantastic creatures from beyond our world. Sucked alongside him for the adventure are crack-smart research assistant Holly and a redneck survivalist named Will. Chased by T. rex and stalked by painfully slow reptiles known as Sleestaks, Marshall, Will and Holly must rely on their only ally — a primate called Chaka to navigate out of the hybrid dimension. Escape from this routine expedition gone awry and they’re heroes. Get stuck, and they’ll be permanent refugees in the Land of the Lost.

Drag Me to Hell: Christine Brown is an ambitious L.A. loan officer with a charming boyfriend, professor Clay Dalton. Life is good until the mysterious Mrs. Ganush arrives at the bank to beg for an extension on her home loan.

Should Christine follow her instincts and give the old woman a break? Or should she deny the extension to impress her boss, Mr. Jacks, and get a leg-up on a promotion? Christine fatefully chooses the latter, shaming Mrs. Ganush and dispossessing her of her home.

In retaliation, the old woman places the powerful curse of the Lamia on Christine, transforming her life into a living hell. Haunted by an evil spirit and misunderstood by a skeptical boyfriend, she seeks the aid of seer Rham Jas to save her soul from eternal damnation.

To help the shattered Christine return her life to normal, the psychic sets her on a frantic course to reverse the spell. As evil forces close in, Christine must face the unthinkable: How far will she go to break free of the curse?

Defying space and time, we will see one of the worse films of this year.

Defying space and time we will see one of the worse films of this year. In “Land of the Lost” Will Ferrell stars as scientist Dr. Rick Marshall, whose ideas of time travel and alternate worlds makes him the nutcase on the Today show. After his horrible interview with Matt Lauer he finds himself teaching. That is until he is approached by Holly (Anna Friel). Holly is an admirer of Dr. Marshall and wants to prove his theory. Overnight Dr. Marshall completes his time machine and they put it to the test. That is when they are sucked into another world, back through time. Dr. Marshall finds himself helpless and naive in this new universe full of dinosaurs and fantastic creatures from beyond our world.

Sucked alongside Holly and Dr. Marshall is a redneck survivalist (Danny McBride) named Will. Chased by T. rex and stalked by scaly reptiles known as Sleestaks, Marshall, Will and Holly must rely on their only ally, a primate called Chaka (Jorma Taccone) to navigate out of the dimension. If they can manage to escape from this expedition they will be heroes. Get stuck, and they’ll be permanent prisoners in the Land of the Lost.

Based on the classic television series created by Sid & Marty Krofft, Land of the Lost is directed by Brad Silberling and produced by Jimmy Miller and Sid & Marty Krofft. Sadly this script should have been tossed. This is a horrible remake. Will Ferrell was not very amusing and was upstaged by his co-star Danny McBride, without him it would have been a total bust. The scenarios seemed to drag on and made the film seem several hours long. “Land of the Lost” seems to have deceived viewers of who the targeted audience is. I know it was not for me, and I know that there were way too many sexual innuendos for this to be appropriate for the younger crowd. So who exactly is this film for? A true disappointment…don’t waste your time or money.

If you viewed the screening please post your comments below.

What Fans Have To Say

Stephanie: Enjoyed “Land of the Lost!” Thanks!!!

MsMetal: oh. I would not recommend this for kids. Many cuss-words and sexual situations

Kali: if you are a WILL FERRELL fan don’t waste your money on the land of the lost, you’ll be disappointed…it was not that good and i love will ferrell and his goofy self!

Mye: “Land of the Lost” was better than I had expected. Never a Will Farrell fan but I enjoyed this movie!

Genre: Action-Thriller
In the action-thriller Public Enemies, acclaimed filmmaker Michael Mann directs Johnny Depp, Christian Bale and Academy Award® winner Marion Cotillard in the story of legendary Depression-era outlaw John Dillinger (Depp)—the charismatic bank robber whose lightning raids made him the number one target of J. Edgar Hoover’s fledgling FBI and its top agent, Melvin Purvis (Bale), and a folk hero to much of the downtrodden public.
No one could stop Dillinger and his gang. No jail could hold him. His charm and audacious jailbreaks endeared him to almost everyone—from his girlfriend Billie Frechette (Cotillard) to an American public who had no sympathy for the banks that had plunged the country into the Depression.
But while the adventures of Dillinger’s gang—later including the sociopathic Baby Face Nelson (Stephen Graham) and Alvin Karpis (Giovanni Ribisi)—thrilled many, Hoover (Billy Crudup) hit on the idea of exploiting the outlaw’s capture as a way to elevate his Bureau of Investigation into the national police force that became the FBI. He made Dillinger America’s first Public Enemy Number One and sent in Purvis, the dashing “Clark Gable of the FBI.’’
However, Dillinger and his gang outwitted and outgunned Purvis’ men in wild chases and shootouts. Only after importing a crew of Western ex-lawmen (newly baptized as agents) and orchestrating epic betrayals—from the infamous “Lady in Red’’ to the Chicago crime boss Frank Nitti—were Purvis, the FBI and their new crew of gunfighters able to close in on Dillinger.

Half way through the film you find yourself wondering when it will end and if these boys will ever grow up.

Will Ferrell stars in another comedy that turns out to be another miss. Ferrell is Brennan Huff, a forty year old who is unemployed and still living at home with his mother, and Nancy Huff is played by Mary Steenburgen. That is until Nancy meets a charming Doctor Robert Doback (Richard Jenkins). The two are instantly attracted to each other which intensifies while learning they have a common denominator. Robert too has a forty year old jobless son at home, Dale Doback, portrayed by John C. Reilly. Their union is made official with a wedding and eventually co-habitation. Moving in together proves to be more difficult than expected, considering they have two children who are spoiled and not ready to leave the nest.

Brennan and Dale immediately become competitive and try to control one another. Both are stuck in their adolescence years by refusing to take responsibility and age gracefully. Their antics get out of control and the two are punished as if they were four year old brothers beating each other on the playground, only now they are trying to kill each other on the front yard which is a scene that is very entreating and a crowd pleaser. Expect this to be one of the few pleasers throughout the film. After there explosive fist fight the two find they have more in common than they knew. They instantly become best-friends and as any best-friends would do, they cause havoc by playing karate, busting pumpkins and building bunk beds.

Much to their parents dismay the two get out of hand. As Nancy desires to have her sons happiness to come first, her husband Robert is very disgruntled by his son’s actions and wants to put a stop to their shenanigans. Will this be a disagreement the newlyweds can resolve, our will the honeymoon be short lived? Step Brothers started off with a strong screenplay. As most of us know someone living at home still that should have ventured off on their own by now, but has decided to remain in the nest. There are many comical acts to find humorous. Even the crude and plain stupid jokes are funny, but there is nothing new here. Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly offered standard and expected performances with nothing original or spectacular. Half way through the film you find yourself wondering when it will end and if these boys will ever grow up. Another standard comedy where you can get exactly what you have seen before. I was hoping for more this time and sad to say I was disappointed.
