Beth arrives for the wedding and shows no interest in this cities breathtaking views or history. Her plans are to go to the wedding and leave immediately after it. Believing she is tardy for the wedding she discovers she is not the only one who can’t arrive on time, when the best man, Nick (Josh Duhamel) walks in right before the bride. He immediately catches her eye and the two seem to have sparks flying, literally. Deciding to take a chance on love in this amazing city she decides to share a bottle of champagne with this gorgeous man only to catch him kissing another woman. Once again feeling she has put herself out there to only find disappointment she goes for a dip in the fountain of love. This fountain is historic for the love that can be found from tossing a coin in it. Deciding to save some of those searching for love Beth removes a few coins from the fountain and returns home.

Once back in New York some strange occurrences begin. Several men start approaching Beth at random trying to woo her. As the men only seem more obsessed with her she begins to believe they are under some curse. It all begins to make sense when she discovers that taking the coins from the fountain caused these men to fall in love with her. The only way to break this love potion is to return them to the fountain. While her other suitors are pursuing Beth, she also has found dashing Nick showing interest as well. His seems genuine as the two begin to go on dates, but they only wind up ending badly due to her other “lovers”.

“When in Rome” was the freshness that the romcom genre needed. Josh Duhamel proved once again to be perfect for any romantic film with his dashing good looks and charm that is displayed naturally. Paired with the adorable Kristen Bell they were dynamic. The addition of the comical acts from Dax Shepard, Jon Heder, Danny Devito, and Will Arnett only made the film much more enjoyable. I’m not saying it is the best romantic comedy of all time, but it took an original approach and was very entertaining. Leap into to love with both feet and see what happens “When in Rome”.
