This film will not disappoint Twihards and will have everyone bummed that Breaking Dawn is a year and half away.

The Twilight Saga continues with the latest installment. Eclipse will heat up the box office this weekend and rightfully so. Picking up where New Moon left off we are back in Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edwards (Robert Pattinson) world where both are trying to compromise on changing Bella into a vampire at the volturi’s command. Bella sets the date for after graduation and begins to learn what she can expect once she is changed. Edward still hesitant about it insists the only way he will turn her is if she agrees to marry him beforehand. Eventually a compromise is made, but not before a battle ensues.

As a string of mysterious killings in Seattle is grabbing the attention of Forks residents the Cullen clan begin to become concerned as Alice (Ashley Greene) has a premonition of what or who they are after. It becomes clear rather quickly that the army of “newborn” vampires has Bella as their target and is on their way to Forks in the hunt. Knowing that the newborns, recently turned vampires who are hungry for blood and more powerful, may be more than the Cullen’s can handle they turn to the wolf packs.

Asking Jacob (Taylor Lautner) if he thinks the pack would help them in the battle and call a truce to work together in the hopes of saving Bella. Of course Jacob is ready to do anything to protect Bella and the vampires and wolves begin training together in the hopes of defeating the army. The army will not be the only opponent as Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard) returns. We learn she is behind the army as the leader in the shadows and has convinced Riley (Xavier Samuel) to be the front man to kill Bella and the Cullen’s.

The battle between the Cullen’s, newborns and wolves is by the far the best action sequence from all of the Twilight movies. Following the book closely Eclipse offers many Team Jacob and Team Edward scenes that all fans will love. Eclipse has the most entertaining dialogue between the two loves of Bella. Finally we are also given a vision into the past of the characters of Rosalie (Nikki Reed) and Jasper (Jackson Rathbone) giving us a better idea of how they got to where they are today. Japer who I have always found awkward to watch finally steps into the spotlight and made you like his character. One character not winning any love would be Victoria. Bryce Dallas Howard could not compete with her predecessor’s performance and I found her to be a complete disappointment.

The chemistry between Bella and Edward and Bella and Jacob was there. They definitely heated up the screen, but for me I found Kristen Stewart a little uncomfortable to watch on screen this time. I think back to her performance in the original and somewhere along the lines her performance as Bella has become strange. The romance, action and special effects made Eclipse better then New Moon. This film will not disappoint Twihards and will have everyone bummed that Breaking Dawn is a year and half away. Enjoy your holiday and get lost in the whimsical tale that Eclipse has to offer.

The Last Station, Remember Me, Green Zone and She's Out of My League

Green Zone: Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum, United 93) re-team for their latest electrifying thriller in Green Zone, a film set in the chaotic early days of the Iraqi War when no one could be trusted and every decision could detonate unforeseen consequences.

During the U.S.-led occupation of Baghdad in 2003, Chief Warrant Officer Roy Miller (Damon) and his team of Army inspectors were dispatched to find weapons of mass destruction believed to be stockpiled in the Iraqi desert. Rocketing from one booby-trapped and treacherous site to the next, the men search for deadly chemical agents but stumble instead upon an elaborate cover-up that inverts the purpose of their mission.

Spun by operatives with intersecting agendas, Miller must hunt through covert and faulty intelligence hidden on foreign soil for answers that will either clear a rogue regime or escalate a war in an unstable region. And at this blistering time and in this combustible place, he will find the most elusive weapon of all is the truth.

She’s Out of My League: In this outrageous comedy, Kirk (Jay Baruchel, “Knocked Up”, “Tropic Thunder”), an average guy, can’t believe his luck when the successful and gorgeous babe Molly (Alice Eve, “Sex and the City 2”) falls for him. His smart-ass friends, his crazy family, and even his obnoxious ex-girlfriend are just as shocked as he is.

Remember Me: In the summer of 2001, New York college student Tyler (Robert Pattinson) is still feeling lost from the tragedy that has strained his relationship with his father when he meets Ally (Emilie de Ravin), a girl who understands his pain. The last thing Tyler’s looking for is love, but through their passionate relationship, he finds new possibilities for happiness. It’s an unforgettable story about the power of the heart, the strength of family, and the importance of treasuring every day of one’s life.

The Last Station: Set in the last tumultuous years of famed Russian author Leo Tolstoy’s life, centers on the battle for his soul waged by his wife Sofya Andreyevna and his leading disciple Vladimir Cherkov. Torn between his professed doctrine of poverty and chastity and the reality of his enormous wealth, his thirteen children and a life of hedonism, Tolstoy makes a dramatic flight from his home. Too ill to continue beyond the tiny rail station at Astapovo, he believes that he is dying alone, while over one hundred newspapermen camp outside awaiting hourly reports on his condition.

Youth in Revolt, When in Rome and The Book of Eli.

It’s a fresh week in the DVD world with three grand choices. A romantic comedy, a dramatic action packed thriller and an indy love story. Out on DVD today:

Youth in Revolt: YOUTH IN REVOLT is a coming-of-age comedy that puts a fresh and outrageous stamp on a tale of adolescent obsession and rebellion. Based on the acclaimed novel by C.D. Payne, YOUTH IN REVOLT is the story of Nick Twisp – a unique, but affable teen with a taste for the finer things in life like Sinatra and Fellini – who falls hopelessly in love with the beautiful, free-spirited Sheeni Saunders (Portia Doubleday) while on a family vacation.

But family, geography and jealous ex-lovers conspire to keep these two apart. With Sheeni’s encouragement, Nick abandons his dull, predictable life and develops a rebellious alter ego: Francois. With his ascot, his moustache and his cigarette, Francois will stop at nothing to be with Sheeni, and leads Nick Twisp on a path of destruction with unpredictable and uproarious consequences.

The Book of Eli: In the not-too-distant future, some 30 years after the final war, a solitary man walks across the wasteland that was once America. Empty cities, broken highways, seared earth–all around him, the marks of catastrophic destruction. There is no civilization here, no law. The roads belong to gangs that would murder a man for his shoes, an ounce of water… or for nothing at all.

But they’re no match for this traveler.

A warrior not by choice but necessity, Eli seeks only peace but, if challenged, will cut his attackers down before they realize their fatal mistake. It’s not his life he guards so fiercely but his hope for the future; a hope he has carried and protected for 30 years and is determined to realize. Driven by this commitment and guided by his belief in something greater than himself, Eli does what he must to survive–and continue.

Only one other man in this ruined world understands the power Eli holds, and is determined to make it his own: Carnegie, the self-appointed despot of a makeshift town of thieves and gunmen. Meanwhile, Carnegie’s adopted daughter Solara is fascinated by Eli for another reason: the glimpse he offers of what may exist beyond her stepfather’s domain.

But neither will find it easy to deter him. Nothing–and no one–can stand in his way. Eli must keep moving to fulfill his destiny and bring help to a ravaged humanity.

When In Rome: Disillusioned with romance, an ambitious New Yorker travels to Rome, where she plucks magic coins from a special fountain. The coins attract an assortment of odd suitors, including a sausage merchant, a street magician and an artist. But, when a persistent reporter throws his hat in the ring, she wonders if his love is the real thing.

Very limited shots of New York City, destroying a beloved character, and the girls have all matured and are no longer what Sex and the City was and has been about.

You can take the girls out of the City, but that won’t save this movie. “Sex and the City 2” hits theatres this holiday weekend and is hoping for another success, unfortunately this Sex is a bore. Sarah Jessica Parker makes her not so fabulous return as Carrie Bradshaw. Seemingly happy in her marriage and having just finished her latest book “I do…Do I”, but things aren’t perfect at home with Mr. Big (Chris Noth) as the two settle into married life. Realizing it will be just them two for the rest of their lives seems to have Carrie searching for some excitement. Carrie finally got her man and still is looking for the exhilaration of a single girl in New York. It is almost as if she has taken fifty steps back to her youth and is not ready to grow up.

Meanwhile Charlotte (Kristin Davis) is struggling with parenthood. Always portraying the picture perfect family has been a dream of hers, but she finds it a battle with a fussy two year old. Charlotte had the most realistic story as a mother who hates to admit that sometimes it is more than you can handle. She finds that she is able to admit these dark secrets to Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), who as a mother has the same feelings some days. Parenthood plays a part in Miranda’s story where her boss belittles her and eventually causes her to make a career change.

As always Samantha (Kim Cattrall) is the cat on the prowl. Only this time she is older and suffering from the beginning stages of menopause. When Samantha is invited to Abu Dhabi to be recruited for a PR position at their new luxurious hotel she invites her gal pals to go with her. The noticeable difference between these American women and the woman in traditional Islamic societies is very apparent. Even to the point that Samantha pushes the envelope and winds up arrested, didn’t see that coming.

Finally we see the one man that was such a pivotal part of the Sex and the City series. Aidan (John Corbett) makes his triumphant return, only to disappoint fans. In the matter of thirty minutes the writers turned this upstanding man into a character I did not even recognize. This film was a complete waste. Very limited shots of New York City, destroying a beloved character, and the girls have all matured and are no longer what Sex and the City was and has been about. These girls are no longer single and Samantha just does not apply to this method. The last Sex and the City movie wrapped up those much needed loose ends and was fun and charismatic, and this version is bad. There is no city and no longer any girls to keep me entertained with the sex they are NOT having. Sex and the City 2 will most likely be the last of the series, so enjoy Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte if you must, but this film was a complete bust.
