To say “New Year’s Eve” is cheesy is an understatement. Love struck people running around and trying to have a good time. But that is also what makes the film fun.

It’s another holiday which makes for another film, yes some of them are lame and don’t work. However in “New Year’s Eve” some of it does work which makes it an average film to check out and enjoy. Much like ‘Valentine’s Day’ the lives of several singles and couples intertwine in New York City over the course of the countdown to 2012.

No New Year’s Eve is complete without Time’s Square ball drop. Claire Morgan (Hilary Swank) is in charge of the ball drop, but it is apparent she has another engagement on her mind. Those plans will need to be set aside after a malfunction may cause the ball to not drop.

Jensen (Bon Jov) is the evening’s entertainment, but his performance is for more then his fans as he is looking for forgiveness from former flame Laura (Katherine Heigl). Laura is the head chef for the big New Year’s event and can’t deal with drama and pushes Jensen away.

Across town a battle is beginning over the New Year baby. Apparently the first baby of the New Year is entitled to a cash prize. When two couples discover this they start a race to get the first newborn of 2012.

In another area of the hospital is Stan Harris (Robert De Niro) a dying man who’s last wish is to watch the ball drop from the roof of the hospital. Nurse Aimee (Halle Berry) is caring for Stan, but finds a few minutes to slip away and talk to her husband, a soldier via video chat.

Then there is the teen crowd who is trying to gather for the night’s festivities. Hailey (Abigail Breslin) is doing what it takes to get her mom Kim (Sarah Jessica Parker) to let her go, but it is not going over well. Of course you have the unexpected singles who have chemistry after being trapped in an elevator and then the lost loves who are desperate to find each other.

My personal favorite is Ingrid (Michelle Pfeiffer) who is looking to complete a list of New Year’s resolutions. Ingird’s first task is to quit her job which she does, then turning to errand runner Paul (Zac Efron) to help her finish her list. These two together were charming and hilarious.

To say “New Year’s Eve” is cheesy is an understatement. Yes it is what you will expect. Love struck people running around and trying to have a good time. But that is also what makes the film fun. It is an all star cast so most fans will find an actor they enjoy watching. If you want to get out and have a fun time and prepare for 2012 brave the cold to check out ‘New Years Eve”!

The storyline reached a new depth and is everything every fan will desire.

As we near the finish line fans are getting to the climax of the Twilight series with the latest edition “Breaking Dawn: Part I”. Edward and Bella fulfill their promise of getting married and starting their life (eternal life) together. After a marvelous ceremony the duo do what any normal newlyweds would do and go on a honeymoon. Finally consummating their nuptials and finally enjoying some happiness.

Bella insists on enjoying some normalcy in their marriage before succumbing to the dark side. The happiness is brought to a halting stop when Bella begins to notice she is ill. When she is reminded that she is late she is shocked to learn that she may be pregnant. Not sure how this is even possible the two quickly head home to Forks and have Carlisle investigate.

Once back home Bella reveals her pregnancy to Jacob who is appalled. Bella insists on carrying the baby to term. She will do whatever it takes to keep ‘him’ safe. Edward who is terrified of Bella’s choice begs Jacob to convince her to change her mind. The discussion does not go very far and Bella only becomes sicker by the day. Her body can not keep up with the demand of a fetus who is growing at a rapid pace.

As her heart begins to give out she goes into emergency labor and Edward is faced with the immediate decision to deliver the baby and then turn Bella. It is a graphic and very dark sequence of events. As it looks like Edward’s attempts have failed he is left to fight the wolf pack to protect his family.

Thanks to Jacob the fight is quickly aborted after it is discovered that Jacob has imprinted on the baby girl named Reneseme. As we watch Bella clinging to life we begin to see a change. “Breaking Dawn Part I” is what fans have been waiting for and will not disappoint. The acting felt very scripted in this version and Pattison lost his charm. The special effects on Kristen Stewart were magical. Although very disturbing to see her sick and bone skinny it was a very realistic portrayal of someone who is very ill. The storyline reached a new depth and is everything every fan will desire. Another box office success that fans will need to check out and find something to enjoy from it.

Mom needs a break in “I Don’t Know How She Does It”. Starring Sarah Jessica Parker as Kate Reddy, a very successful financial executive on the verge of making a huge step in her career. The only thing that singles Kate out is that she is the mom of two young children. When Kate’s proposal is chosen by the elusive Jack Abelhammer (Pierce Brosnan) she finds herself torn away from her family more often.

She racks up her frequent flyer miles rather quickly between her commute to and from New York. Time is whizzing by and she is missing out on holidays and events that any parent would treasure. Doing what she thinks is best for her family she is sacrificing a lot, including a bond with her husband Richard (Greg Kinnear). As the deal is close to coming to an end Kate learns what is most important in life and puts her career secondary. Given it is after a major accomplishment, it seems a little tainted.

“I Don’t Know How She Does It” is as long as the title is. There are some genuine parts that any parent would enjoy. Dealing with head lice and multi tasking. I could relate to some of the moments as a parent, where as others I found outrageous. In one instance Kate is badgering her husband about his last minute baby sitter, when they have a rather peculiar nanny on staff who seems to be oblivious to a lot of things.

Sarah Jessica Parker has once again signed on for a dull comedy. The juggling this mother does is accurate for most working mothers. I myself not being a stay at home mom felt that the stereotype given to those that are was rather insulting. I personally do not know any stay at home mom’s who spend six hours at the gym.

The chemistry forced between Bronsan and Parker’s characters could have ruined the film, but they somehow manage to salvage it. I could have also done without the direct contact monologue of Parker during pivotal scenes. The comedy was so sporadic that you waited and waited for the next laugh. The only saving grace came from Olivia Munn as Momo Hahn, Parker’s co-worker who’s idea of having a child is a mess and vows never to cross into that world. She made the film with her quirky humor.

Mom’s everywhere can relate to saving a few bucks. This is where I will help you out, skip this one. It’s not worth the quality time you could be spending with your children or the extra change in your wallet.

Synopsis:

Meet Kate Reddy (Sarah Jessica Parker) — wife, mother, career woman and juggler par excellence. Kate’s life is hectic, but it’s also pretty great. She’s got a wonderful husband, Richard (Greg Kinnear), an architect who has recently struck out on his own. She’s got two adorable children, Emily (Emma Rayne Lyle), who’s turning six, and Ben (Theodore and Julius Goldberg), a toddler who worships the ground she walks on. And she’s got a job she loves, as an investment manager at the Boston satellite of a New York-based financial firm. Kate travels frequently for work, but she also manages to be as involved in her daughter’s school and after-school activities as any stay-at-home mom. Colleagues, acquaintances and relatives invariably say the same thing when remarking on Kate’s ability to keep the different areas of her existence running so smoothly: “I don’t know how you do it.”

It’s a phrase that’s likely to be met by Kate with a polite smile, and by her best friend and fellow working mother Allison (Christina Hendricks) with a wryly raised eyebrow. The fact is, Kate can’t remember the last time she had an uninterrupted night’s sleep, and her to-do list is in a state of never-ending expansion. She sometimes arrives at work inadvertently accessorized with bits of her children’s breakfast — to the horror of her workaholic, child-phobic junior colleague Momo (Olivia Munn) — but keeps mum about her family life around her male co-workers. An intimate dinner with Richard tends to involve the microwave, and that home-made pie for Emily’s school bake sale?? A case of necessity, or maternal guilt, being the mother of invention…

After years of diligent toil, Kate scores a key victory at work when her proposal for a new investment fund gets an enthusiastic reception from the firm’s head honcho in New York, Jack Abelhammer (Pierce Brosnan). More good news: Jack wants to pitch the fund to a major client. But the timetable for making the pitch is short, and that means Kate will have to spend even more time away from home, ironing out every detail with Jack in New York. Meanwhile, Richard has his own good news: he’s landed the first big contract of his solo career, and it’s a make-or-break moment.

And with that, Kate Reddy’s juggling act moves onto the high-wire…

I’m in love and it is the crazy, stupid kind. “Crazy, Stupid, Love” comes out today and it has the perfect mix of comedy and drama that makes it one of the funniest films this summer. Steve Carell is Cal, a devoted father and husband whose life is abruptly turned upside down after his wife, Emily (Julianne Moore) confesses to cheating on him with a co-worker and telling him she wants a divorce. Cal has been with Emily since he was seventeen, so being heartbroken and newly single after so long is a daunting task.

Enter Ryan Gosling as Jacob a well dressed hottie that is a womanizer. He knows the game and plays it very well. Jacob notices Cal at the bar and offers him a little advice. Stop focusing on your wife and put a little focus on yourself. Jacob takes Cal on a shopping spree and makeover. Then he teaches him the ropes about picking up women. Next thing you know Cal has become irrestiable eye candy.

While playing the field is great, Cal begins to miss Emily who he still believes is his soul mate. Cal’s son Robbie (Jonah Bobo) insists he not give up on her and do what it takes to get her back. Meanwhile Jacob has been out of touch as he has found a girl that he calls the ‘game changer’. Emma Stone is Hannah, a beautiful intelligent woman who throws herself at Jacob, but he does not take advantage as he usually does and the two connect on a higher level.

“Crazy, Stupid, Love” is the most fun I had in a movie this summer. The surprising twists and turns had me laughing out loud. The chemistry was magnetic between all couples and the brotherly love between Cal and Jacob was superb. With key players Emma Stone and Steve Carell you get a charming grown up comedy without all the gross you out antics. A genuine film that was easily relatable which made it a fantastic surprise .Do not miss the intricate web that is spun in “Crazy, Stupid, Love”

It calls for a date night, so find a sitter and go out and enjoy an evening with Mr. Crowne.

It’s a fresh start for “Larry Crowne” with an incredible journey. A former Navy seal that specialized in cooking Larry Crowne (Tom Hanks) entered into the retail business with no further education. Despite being a dedicated hard worker for U-Mart he is fired unexpectedly due to his lack of education and inability to climb the ladder with the company. Following a divorce this puts Larry in the dumps and he decides to change his life.

Visiting his local community college he looks into taking economic and speech classes to better his financial woes and his ability to communicate. During his communication classes he becomes fond of his attractive teacher Mercedes Tainot (Julia Roberts). Larry gets a boost of confidence when he starts hanging out with the free spirited Talia (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) and gains several college buddies in the process. Talia changes Larry’s outlook on life and offers him a few new styling tips.

Talia boosts Larry’s confidence enough for him to show his interest in Miss Tainot. He is rather pleased when he sees his feelings reciprocated by his teacher, but is a gentleman when he realizes she is under the influence of one too many drinks. When Miss Tainot asks Larry not to mention the incident and that is was a mistake he is a little crushed. In the end he will gather his words together and woo her with his incredible final that will have every girl’s attention.

“Larry Crowne” is an adult story about starting over and finding love. Inspiring the audience to never give up, whether it is for an education or finding that one true love. Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts with their magical chemistry kept the audience engaged. Albeit there were some cheesy scenes, but this is not your typical love story. There was much more to enjoy from “Larry Crowne.” It calls for a date night, so find a sitter and go out and enjoy an evening with Mr. Crowne.
