King George II (Richard Griffiths) of England orders the Captain and his team of pirates to find the legendary fountain before another explorer does so for Spain. Jack must improvise on his travels since his ship the Black Pearl was lost at sea. He joins ship with the legendary Blackbeard (Ian McShane) in the hunt. While at sea on the Queen Anne’s Revenge Sparrow must deal with Blackbeard and the magical spell that has been cast by his ruthless daughter Angelica (Penelope Cruz).

Along the way to their discovery they must battle monstrous mermaids and the many distractions that every pirate must face. In the end Captain Jack Sparrow proves to be an imperious pirate with another battle won. “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” is another enjoyable action adventure in the series. Slightly different version from the ones with his original comrades. Penelope Cruz was a nice addition, but you could notice a definite loss from Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley. Overall another enjoyable flick to be enjoyed by your adventurous tween/teen. Make sure to stay till closing credits for a sneak peek at Jack Sparrow’s next adventure.

The first train car hits the truck and Joe yells for everyone to look out and the kids go running. Quickly massive chaos ensues as every train car flips and flops all over the place into mass destruction. Amazingly all the kids make it out alive and unharmed. However there are many questions as to why the truck tried to derail the train and what was being carried on the train cars belonging to the Air Force. Wanting to get the video footage quickly the boys turn it in and wait to see what was caught on camera. Meanwhile in the small town strange happenings are going on. Dogs are running away from home, people are going missing and a large amount of metal objects are being stolen. Civilians are asking questions and the local police department has no answers. There is not any help coming from the Air Force either when the deputy starts asking questions. Things only get weirder when the small town is being gathered up into safety zones following a fire set intentionally by the Air Force.

The friends are unwilling to let there suspicions die and are determined to find out what mysterious phenomenon has been brought to their town. With little time left and the Air Force quick on their heels the boys must come together to solve the mystery, finish an amazing tale and save the girl. “Super 8″ was non stop thrills and chills. It was very nostalgic to the old Spielberg work. It is not for the younger children as some parts might be a tad to frightening, but for teens and up this can be a great family night out. The cast had amazing chemistry and delightful performances. I really enjoyed seeing these young kids and their passion for film and the way they were portrayed as the average kid looking for troublea. It was nice to see a film with young adults who were enjoyable to watch from the comical moments to the death defying end. “Super 8″ is what I have been looking for this summer, not a moment of disappointment.

Most of you may have already viewed the trailer for the latest Twilight movie. But just in case here is your first look at Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part I.

After some repetitive words and phrases she informs Colter he is on an assignment to save Chicago. He is being sent on this train to find a bomber who blew up the train and killed everyone on board. The bomber is believed to be on the train and has planned another attack on the city. It is Colter’s mission to find the bomber and prevent the next attack from occurring.

Once again he is sent back onto the train and relives the same moments over and over again each time slightly different. But every time with the same results. As he gets closer and closer to finding the suspect he seems to become weaker and wanting answers as to why he was the chosen one. What has happened to his fellow men in the air force and if he can contact his father? Every time not getting the answers he wants he is sent back in on his mission until it is complete. It is a wild and calculated ride.

“Source Code” has some very brilliant moments, but others are just down right creepy. Jake Gyllenhaal was a superb action star that had you excited for his next move.  Some what like “Groundhog Day” the repetitiveness towards the end was a little much to bear. But if you can hold on till the end it will be worth the wait. “Source Code” is electrifying action that is lackluster mid way through but comes back in the end to catapult you to another universal ending.

As time passes by David runs into the same girl in one of the busiest cities. This time he makes sure to get her number and has every intention of getting to know her. But his pre-determined plan does not include Elise. When David walks in on adjustments being made by strange men he tries to escape, but finds himself trapped in a world that makes little sense. David is surrounded and listens to what these men have to tell him. Their group is known as “The Adjustment Bureau”, a group of men who work for a higher power ensuring that you follow the path in life that is set out for you.

They make small adjustments as needed to keep you on track. These men are fast moving and mysterious David is shocked by their revelation, but is even more appalled at their request. They tell David he can not contact Elise, she is not part of his plan. David finds this hard to believe given the connection he feels to Elise, so his passion takes over and he refuses to stay away. The Bureau won’t make it easy for him as they destroy her number and tell him they will intervene at all costs.

Will David follow the rules and stick to his ‘plan’ of take a risk for love? “The Adjustment Bureau” was an intriguing tale that has you wondering what the higher plan is. Chemistry was strong between the fated lovers Matt Damon and Emily Blunt which only intensified this banned romance. The Adjustment workers were mysterious and have you believing in a whole other world. “The Adjustment Bureau” is a strong mystifying story that lays it all out and has you choosing fate over the plan.

Cobb is desperate to get out of this line of work of Extraction, but he must do one final job so he can return home to his children. Cobb is requested to implant an idea successfully during someone’s dream. This plot is known as Inception and will take a valiant diverse group of people to pull off. As demonstrated taking over a dream is not as simple as it seems. You must be in their dream and become invisible to that persons subconscious. If you become noticed you will be targeted. During the dream you don’t want to make any big changes that would also alert the subconscious. You want everything to be as realistic as possible.

That is where a great architect comes in to assemble the dream. Cobb is introduced by his father to one of his most promising students Ariadne (Ellen Page). Cobb takes her into a dream to show her the ability she would have to design it. Ariadne begins building her world and quickly learns the projections and shapes are there from the dreamer’s subconscious, where the dream world is created by the designer, not the dreamer. Making accuracy the most important.

Setting the plan into motion Cobb begins laying all the ground work with partner Arthur (Joseph Gordon Levitt). He seeks out an imitator, someone who can impersonate someone close to the dreamer, a driver who can handle the intensity of the dream and keep the group safe when they advance down to another level of dreaming. Once the team is assembled he sets out a complicated layered dream. One that could have life altering consequences.

“Inception” is mind boggling. A great masterpiece that challenges viewers scene by scene. Christopher Nolan does not disappoint with his amazing tale which includes some of the best special effects this year. It’s inventive and fresh and definitely what a lagging box office needed this year. The only film I have seen that has captured my attention and still has me thinking outside the box days later. The cast was made up of the best and the chemistry they shared was superb. Joseph Gordon Levitt shined brightly and Ellen Page proved to be a force to be reckoned with. As expected Leonardo DiCaprio was a show stopper up to the final act. “Inception” proves to be a box office’s dream come true!

It’s official…the cities have been named and yes a cast member from THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE will be making a surprise appearance in Kansas City.  Check out the film’s website…

If you are a Twilight fan you may have already seen Eclipse, and you know you want to see it again and now you have an excuse! The rumors started yesterday and it looks like this rumor is going to be proven true this weekend. The cast from TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE will be making surprise appearances at many theatres around the country this weekend. It is not known at this point if Kansas City is part of this tour.
