Fuel is only added to the fire when G.G.’s grandson Randy Garrity (Jeremy Jordan) arrives in town and has an admiration for Vi Rose’s daughter Olivia Hill (Keke Palmer). Randy is instantly attracted to Olivia who has the voice of a goddess. He takes an interest not only in Olivia, but the choir as well. Soon he passes the test to become a member and the choir kicks up their music to a new level.

With the choir getting some fresh blood and bold new material they head into a national competition where they hope to finally take home first prize. “Joyful Noise” does a great job at entertaining, but loses its entertainment factor as it pushes into the final act. There is a great deal of wonderful music, but it should have been cut back in a few scenes when it starts to feel more like a musical then a movie.

The final choir performance is magical and describes the title of the film to a tee. Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton had amazing chemistry and their jib jabs were engaging. The young talents of Keke Palmer can’t be missed as she belts out some wonderful notes that make this film joyful.  Might be better off waiting for this one on DVD.

Looking for change that will be best for the family he makes an insane choice to move his family away from the city and onto a zoo reservation. The house sits on the reservation and after seeing his daughter’s reaction to the zoo he knows that this may be the best investment for his family’s future. Not knowing much about zoo upkeep and the animal’s well being he is taught a lot fairly quickly from the zookeepers. Kelly Foster (Scarlett Johansson) is the head of the zookeepers and has some frank advice for the dad in his latest adventure.

Kelly is sure to let Benjamin know his journey could turn into a disaster and they all depend on his dedication for the zoo and its staff to survive. There are a lot of heartwarming moments in this film, but it crosses the line between realistic and ridiculous.

Benjamin’s choice to improve a situation at home does not make sense. I find it hard to understand how buying a zoo will better their lives. If anything that type of investment would hinder one’s ability to do that. “We Bought a Zoo” makes an attempt to be enjoyable, but has a few flaws that are hard to look past. The one delight you will get from this film is the adorable Maggie Elizabeth Jones (Rosie Mee) who captures the audience with her adorable charm. For the holidays it does come packaged very well and kids will love the idea of living in the backyard of a zoo, but for some adults it misses the mark.

Disappointment quickly sets in when Wayne learns his partner received his promotion and he has gained a new rookie partner Lanny. Lanny is eager and filled with holiday cheer. Wayne has become a bit of a scrooge and has forgotten the importance of being on the prep landing crew. When Christmas is almost ruined for a child Wayne takes responsibility and suits up to make the impossible possible.

Wayne with the help of Lanny will save Christmas for one little boy and be reminded of what the holiday is all about. “Prep & Landing” is a special film that can be enjoyed by the entire family. The gadgets these elves have are so hi-tech and make the film very fun to enjoy. The whole prep and landing crew will fill children with the spirit of Christmas and answer all those questions about how Santa delivers all those gifts on Christmas day. “Prep & Landing” is available on DVD now and is loaded with extras. Be sure to get your stocking stuffer and make a little one’s holiday a little brighter!

It seems Harold & Kumar are no longer the pals they use to be. When a package arrives for Harold at the old apartment Kumar tracks him down to his new neighborhood and drops it off. As always when these two boys get together the adventure begins. Kumar manages to burn down the tree Harold’s father in law Mr. Perez (Danny Trejo) spent eight years growing. Desperate to impress his father in law Harold must come up with a way to replace the tree and save Christmas. This is where the escapade starts.

Searching for a Christmas tree is the least of their problems when they have mix up with crime lord Sergei Katsov (Elias Koteas). A mix up that nearly cost them their lives again. And of course it is not a true Harold & Kumar film without the appearance of the amazing Neil Patrick Harris as himself. Lucky to be alive and reconnecting the two friends rebuild a friendship that will last for ages.

“A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas” is just what the holiday season called for. It is ridiculous, insulting and vulgar but would you expect any less. I enjoyed the outrageous humor and performances by the entire cast. The 3D was a nice effect but was not necessary as its use was limited. The scene stealer as always for me is Neil Patrick Harris. NPH is an amazing talent that has only reached his peak. Given Harold & Kumar may not be the greatest platform he knows his craft and can enjoy a fun film. That is exactly what this film was – FUN! Get your Santa hats on and buckle up for the latest adventure of Harold & Kumar. It’s the stocking stuffer that you have been waiting for.

When Josh finds himself out of work, along with fellow employees Charlie (Casey Aflleck) and Enrique Dev’Reaux (Michael Pena) he decides to take action. After befriending Special Agent Claire Denham (Tea Leoni) who is working the case he is privileged to top secret information. Information that leads him to a former tenant Mr. Fitzhugh (Matthew Broderick) a former Wall Street genius. Using his knowledge of money and the market he realizes that Shaw has somehow hidden the money he embezzled and is determined to take back what belongs to his staff.

He has the manpower now he just needs the street knowledge to which he contacts Slide (Eddie Murphy), a neighbor who he has a long history with but not quite as long as his rap sheet. With Slide on their side they have formed an unstoppable crew that plans on storming the castle and getting what is rightfully theirs, all $20 million off it. Of course with any heist things don’t go as planned and there are a few bumps in the road.

“Tower Heist” was a fun film that had me laughing. There was a few missed comical moments, but overall a solid adventurous comedy. Eddie Murphy has his comeback; his comical performance was superb and very enjoyable. Ben Stiller took the lead and was a force to reckon with. The charisma of Broderick, Casey, Pena and Stiller is what makes it a great film. You will be rooting for this underdog team. A farfetched heist with great performances that should not be missed.

Ren MacCormack (Kenny Wormald) has just moved from Boston to a small town following the untimely death of his mother. He finds he must adjust quickly to the rules set in place. No loud music, no dancing, and no cursing…what are you suppose to do. Ren soon learns that the kids in the town may follow the rules, but they are finding ways to break them to.

Ren meets the preacher’s daughter Ariel Moore (Julianne Hough) and finds her very intriguing. Something about her wild side has Ren all shook up. For Ariel it is not easy being the daughter of the small town’s pastor. Rev. Shaw Moore (Dennis Quaid) was the wheels behind the initiative of banning song and dance. Following his son’s car accident that left five students dead he felt that he needed to protect the children from another accident, insisting that music lead to other bad habits. Banning music and dancing would help prevent future tragedies.

Fighting for what he thinks it right and wanting to change the rule Ren starts a petition and plans to approach the city counsel to overturn the ban on dancing so his senior class can have a proper formal dance. It is a fight that he will take on with many friends that are ready to put on their dancing shoes.

“Footloose” was updated and enjoyable. With many classic songs you will be dancing in your seat. The music far outweighed the dancing for me. Kenny Wormald seemed more gymnastics then dance and Julianne Hough is a dancing talent that just demonstrated a lot of club moves. The variation of dance was more enjoyable than the original with the crunking, break dancing and country line dancing.

Performances were average except for one shining star. Miles Teller (Willard) was a knock out star. As Ren’s buddy from school this boy stole every scene he was in and had me laughing every second. His odd quirks were just what the film needed. Can’t wait to see what is in store for this up and comer.

If you enjoyed the original you will for sure enjoy this updated version. It is a replica of the original for the most part. You will know what to expect when you see it, with a few added comical moments. This is your time…relive it once more.
