A Nightmare on Elm Street

Elm3At what point will these remakes cease to exist. Have we not learned from Rob Zombie’s failed attempt at Halloween? Once again someone is taking a stab at it. In “A Nightmare on Elm Street” Freddy is collecting his victims in their dreams. Following the death of her friend, Kris (Katie Cassidy) begins to question her younger years after seeing a photo of herself at an age she has seem to forgotten. After questioning her mother she finds a dead end and before she can discover the truth she becomes another victim of the four bladed glove.

Nancy (Rooney Mara) and Quentin (Kyle Gallner) find that the dreams of their fallen friends are beginning to plague them as nightmares. As Nancy investigates her dreams she finds that everything traces back to an elementary school. Nancy is shocked to discover that she, Quentin, Kris and several victims attended a school together at a very young age. Freddy Krueger was a worker at the school who took advantage of the innocence of the children and when the parents found out they attacked and murdered him. His revenge has taken over and he is now haunting the children in their dreams and if he manages to slash them in their dreams they die in reality.

Elm2Nancy and Quentin the only survivors from the school are determined to stop Freddy and save themselves. Running on sleep deprivation and seeing things that are not real there is not much time left for survival. “A Nightmare on Elm Street” was another deprived attempt at a remake. The film lacked imagination, especially when it came to the dream sequences which I found dull. The actors in the film were average and Jackie Earle Haley could not compare to Robert Englund’s stunning performance. This was anything but a horror film and I would steer clear of this Nightmare. Save yourself the ticket price and buy the original on DVD and see what a true fright is.
