Being a huge animal lover every year I make it a point to visit The American Royal for the Pet Expo. The Expo is one of the best events for animal lovers. You will enter the event and find tons of pet friendly items for purchase. Along with literature about spaying & neutering your pets, keeping them safe and healthy and eventually you will find booths set up by local animal shelters. Make sure to stop by the 2nd Chance booth, which is the shelter I am a volunteer for. Right now we have several adorable pets up for adoption, you will get to see a few of these pets at the event. Along with the abundance of animals to see and items for purchase there is also great shows. This year you can see:
Dockdogs – watch these dogs fly after there favorite toys into the large on-site pool. It’s great to see these amazing animals fly across the pool and make a splash. Flyball, D.O.G. Agility, Acro-Cats/Rock Cats, The Cat House, Reptiles Up Close & Personal, Wing’s of Love – featuing a wide variety of beautiful birds, and much more.

Pets are an integral part of life. Whether it’s traditional dogs and cats, or more exotic lizards and fish, pet ownership is at an all time high. As more species of animals have become readily available as pets, it is important that information, products and services become available for the health, welfare and care of these animals.
The goal of the The Kansas City Pet Expo is to provide the public with an opportunity to learn about both common and not-so-common animals that are found as pets, and the products and services that are available to provide
optimal care for these animals.
No More Homeless Pets KC, the presenting sponsor for the 2009 Kansas City Pet Expo, is a coalition of veterinarians, humane societies, municipal shelters, rescue groups, spay/neuter groups, and individuals who are working toward a time when there will be No More Homeless Pets Kansas City.
The Pet Expo benefits Animal Haven, the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City, Half Way Home Pet Adoptions, and Wayside Waifs.
NOTE: For health and safety reasons the public will not be allowed to bring any animals into the The Kansas City Pet Expo except foranimals assisting the disabled.
