Stanford & Sons – Legends

logo_1614629Stanford and Sons have taken the comedy stage to a new location. Now located at the Legends Village West in Kansas City, Kansas you have a new outlet to go for some laughs. Our show was at 9:45pm and we arrived at 9pm. After getting our tickets we entered the lobby. I was disappointed at the size of the lobby. Being a new building you would imagine they would consider the layout and put more effort into making sure guests were comfortable during their wait. However this was not the case. You enter and wait in a small room crowded person to person; it is impossible to reach the bar to order a drink and don’t even attempt to reach the restrooms. While waiting to enter the theatre people are coming out to the lobby and you take the chance of getting hit by folding doors that open out into the crowd. Finally the structure of the lobby had parts of the archways sticking out in the walkway, which caused two people on this evening to trip over and fall down. Not exactly designed with safety in mind. The first show at 7:30pm had run late and we did not get seated until 10pm for our show. Once the doors opened it was like a rush to sit down. We were directed to our section and seated. Our server was very friendly and took our drink orders. It is a two drink minimum per person, however they did not enforce this rule as I only ordered one drink. The comedy show was great. The host for the evening was very engaging and hit on many local jokes which was amusing. The second act was also delightful. He had a lot of funny jokes, but I kept getting distracted by him wiping the sweat from his face every few minutes. The final act was grand. His wide range of comical jokes had me rolling with laughter. During the show however it got really hot. So hot I started sweating. It became very uncomfortable and distracted me from the show. Was not exactly the best experience I have had at a comedy club. I really miss the Westport location as it was the original. Sad to say the new location as much as they have tried to update it, can not compare to the old one. Just know if you have show tickets you need to arrive early and be prepared for a painful wait.
