Unfortunately, not as captivating or as memorable as “The Notebook” or “Nights in Rodanthe.” Wasn’t so much the acting, both main actors were exceptional, but the storyline was weak and Amanda’s (goody two shoes) character Savannah was annoying to say the least. I was expecting the romance movie of the year, something perhaps bigger than, or at least as big as “The Notebook.” Guess my expectations were just too high. A very disappointing love story.

Tanya, if you walked out then you missed the entire movie. The ending is the most important part of the plot.

could someone please share the ending with me? are “spoilers” allowed on this site? went on a date wth my hubby last night and was VERY disappointed in the movie so we actually walked out. it was late…we were paying a sitter…and just didn’t think it was worth wasting anymore time. but now i am reading about the “surprise” ending and twists, and i’m so curious to know how it ended. we walked out after Chuck fell off the rocks and the Marshal (Leonardo) climbed down to look for him. all of those rats came pouring out of the rocks; Leonardo climbs in, and … i have no idea what happens thereafter… Please fill me in! THANKS!!

lol, funny that this review gives DiCaprio props for his performance, when most of the people I talked to (and read reviews I’ve read) conclude this is DiCaprio’s weakest performance yet. He seems to have taken his Departed character with him along with the ride, but with even less emotion than typical DiCaprio.
Then again, I never really care what reviewers think. I actually enjoyed this movie, except for DiCaprio’s absolutely terrible fake Boston accent.
