Scream 4 Movie Review
Ghost face is back and he is a little less scary. All the original players have teamed up for the latest installment of “Scream 4”. Neve Campbell returns as the stalked and tortured Sidney Prescott, her old buddy who is now the Sheriff Dewey Riley (David Arquette) and his now wife Gale Weathers-Riley (Courtney Cox). Sidney’s return after a decade surrounds her novel that tells about her life following the mass murders that have haunted her and how she is stepping out of the shadows as a survivor.
Right before Sidney’s arrival someone decides to take over where the previous murderers left off and begins their reign of terror. Quickly there are two victims and Dewey becomes concerned for Sidney and her remaining family & friends. As the town is quickly turned upside down the bodies begin to mount and Dewey is lost without any suspects. Not wanting to deal with Gale’s input he insists he can solve the case and that she needs to stay out of it. True to character Gale goes out and begins investigating the murders and gets a little too close to the suspect. As the walls begin to surround the ghost face killer he/she must act quickly and finalize the master plan.
“Scream 4” is a wild ride that imitates the first. The scares are a lot less thrilling, but maybe that is because I am ten years older. It was good to see the originals back together fighting once again for their lives…but the fight was a little weak. “Scream” has always used the jump out and scare you tactics, along with the blood and gore, but this edition lacked a lot. It was “Scream” without a lot of screaming. The last decade has not improved on much as far as horror films go and “Scream 4” was no exception. Is anyone else awaiting the announcement of “Scream5” in 3D? Needless to say that would not be my recommendation. It’s time to lay ghost face to rest.

Whilst I enjoyed this film a lot more than you did, I can kind of understand your opinions. If Scream 5 is in 3D, however, Wes Craven & Kevin Williamson won’t be involved (the studio wanted Scream 4 to be in 3D but they refused). Neve Campbell has said that she wouldn’t return unless Wes was involved…
So, basically, Scream 5 will almost certainly be made… but not in 3D.
