Machete

machete-movie-posterWhere would the movie world be without Robert Rodriguez? Finally after a boring summer, not to mention year he manages to come up with a wild tale that will have audiences enjoying every minute of it. Machete stars Danny Trejo as a former Mexican Federale who is betrayed and set up by his boss who is working for both sides. Machete is captured and forced to watch the murder of his wife and then is left for dead.

Fast forward three years and we see Machete survived and is now roaming the streets of Texas looking for labor work. Machete catches the eye of an unsavory man who offers Machete a large sum of money to assonate the senator (Robert DeNiro). The offer is one Machete can not refuse, but as he is about to take his shot he sees he has a gun aimed at him and it seems he is being set up. Barely escaping again Machete seeks out revenge on those who have used him.

machete-movie-poster2Machete will need the help of Luz (Michelle Rodriguez) who has been helping illegal immigrants enter into the US and set them up with work and housing and her group known as the resistance. Add to this Sartana (Jessica Alba) who works to bring in any illegal immigrants but now seems to have switched sides to aid Machete. It turns into a fight for the ages with outrageous scenes that will shock viewers.

Danny Trejo’s performance is shocking and superb. The stereotypes in the film were dead on and will have you laughing continuously. Rodriguez did an amazing job at covering an issue ludicrously that is on the front burner in America right now. With an all star cast and creative writing Machete is the best film I have seen this year. With gut busting laughs and outlandish slashing this one can not be missed!
