April 20th Releases
Finally April has picked up with it’s movie releases. There is much more to be desired this week. Out on DVD today:
Avatar: In the epic action adventure Avatar, James Cameron, the director of Titanic, takes us to a spectacular new world beyond imagination. On the distant moon Pandora, a reluctant hero embarks on a journey of redemption and discovery as he leads a heroic battle to save a civilization.
The film was first conceived by Cameron 14 years ago, when the means to realize his vision did not yet exist. Now, after four years of actual production work, Avatar delivers a fully immersible cinematic experience of a new kind, where the revolutionary technology invented to make the film, disappears into the emotion of the characters and the sweep of the story.
The Lovely Bones: Susie Salmon, a young girl who has been murdered, watches over her family – and her killer – from heaven. She must weigh her desire for vengeance against her desire for her family to heal.
Crazy Heart: Four-time Academy Award® nominee JEFF BRIDGES stars as the richly comic, semi-tragic romantic anti-hero Bad Blake in the debut feature film CRAZY HEART from writer-director Scott Cooper. Bad Blake is a broken-down, hard-living country music singer who’s had way too many marriages, far too many years on the road and one too many drinks way too many times. And yet, Bad can’t help but reach for salvation with the help of Jean (MAGGIE GYLLENHAAL), a journalist who discovers the real man behind the musician.
