Backfire BBQ

Following Famous Daves and Arthur Bryant’s success Backfire BBQ opened their doors back in December 2009. I was unaware of the newest addition until a recent shopping trip. It is not hard to notice this very cool restaurant from its outdoor decor of bikes turning on fountains and flaming red sign.

Dining on a Saturday in the early afternoon was slightly busy, but the restaurant offered adequate seating which meant no wait time. Unfortunately I was unable to try any of the alcoholic beverages, but my friends tried the Big Dog Beer Bong and loved its Bloody Mary style with a new intense flavor. The drinks are a little on the pricey side of $8 and up, but the Big Dog Beer Bong is served with a Corona that makes it more than substantial.

The chicken had great flavor, the toppings were fresh and it was very filling for the entire table. For dinner I opted for the best of both worlds. I settled for the Smoker, a burger with slices of Backfire slow smoked brisket served with fries. It was cooked to perfection and had a delicious smoky flavor. They had two wonderful sauces available. One was tangy and sweet and my personal favorite was the hot and spicy habanero flavored sauce.

The food was great and service could not have been better. My only complaint would be that the prices were on the high end. But then again at the Legends aren’t all the prices?

Worst experience I have had. Family of 5, they forgot to wait on us, and it wasn’t busy. Then brought the food and no silverware. When I got up to get some, I see all of the little teens huddled up giggling, they turn to me like wtf do you want. I asked for the manager and explained the 20 minutes without being waited on, no silverware, etc. He offered free desert…After 20 minutes waiting on the desert, I called the place on my cell phone and informed scott to cancel our deserts I just wanted the bill. I insisted on paying, and he slips me gift cert, nice cya. I won’t go back even with a $50 gift cert. Needs new management and employees.

This place was horrible. The only good thing I had were the pork nachos. I had a hamburger and they put some kind of peppercorn seasoning on it they said was New York style, I took one bite and grease exploded all over my shirt and plate. They need to stick to what they know and that’s building toy choppers.

We went today our waitress was very nice and service was good. As far as presentation of food and design they earn a 10. They should never have tried to compete with kc BBQ. I asked if the Cole slaw was finely chopped like traditional BBQ places she said yes. Got Cole slaw it was huge chunks of cabbage. Didn’t even try it letme go for beans Instead. I opted for Mac and cheese instead of fries…big mistake. They were dry and tasteless I couldn’t even eat it. Brisket was good but small portion for price. Tried brownie sundae was the only good thing. Left most of food on plate. I guess Rainforest cafe owns it…why settle for good food when u have great decor. Wouldn’t go back.
